Serving up some “love”ly gatherings for February. So, without further ado, here’s what’s in store!
First up, we’d love for you to join us for a Type-In this Saturday, February 8 at Juan Tabo Public Library (3407 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE). The event begins at 10:30 am and goes until 12 noon. Stop by anytime!
Try your hand at writing poetry, a short story, or even a love letter—just in time for Valentine’s Day. Use our typewriters (models ranging from the 1920s to the 1970s) or bring your own.
Whether it’s been a while since you’ve used a typewriter or it’s your first time, ABQwerty Type Writer Society members will be on hand to help. We’ll supply the paper, you supply the inspiration.
Next, come on out for a Type Away on Saturday, February 22 at Cherry Hills Library (6901 Barstow St. NE) from 3 pm to 4:30 pm.
Bring a (type)writing project to work on and get some words on the page!
Never been to a Type Away? Here’s a sample schedule:
3 pm: Come and get settled in with your typewriter, introduce yourself, and mingle (if you’d like!).
3:15 pm: We will write quietly—or not-so-quietly, because we all know and love the sound of typewriters—for the next hour. This is go time, which means we are all about getting words on the page. (Should you arrive while writing is in progress, that’s okay. Please just be considerate of others being in the flow as you set up your writing station.)
4:15 pm: Time’s up! Let those fingers rest and admire all the words you wrote. We’ll share our writing wins (“I wrote 1,000 words!” or “I got a chapter done!” or “I wrote 3 letters!” or anything else you created). Let’s celebrate one another before saying our goodbyes.
Please, send an email to abqtypers@gmail.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you!
We hope to see you at one (or both) of these events!
